The journey begins with a robust external round bar, meticulously turned down to a precise 27 mm diameter. Once the turning is complete, a central hole is drilled and carefully bored to create the cavity that will later house the nylon insert. This crucial step ensures perfect alignment and a snug fit. The component is then transferred seamlessly to a sub-spindle for back-facing, creating a smooth rear surface for the final assembly. Next, chamfering is carried out to remove sharp edges, followed by thread milling to ensure a precise and durable thread pattern. Stage 2 – Forming the Hexagonal Profile.
At this stage, the part is expertly mounted onto the Polyturn machine. Here, the external profile is meticulously shaped into a flat external hexagon. This precise shaping not only adds functional integrity but also ensures that the nut can be easily tightened using standard tooling. Stage 3 – Nylon Insert Placement.
The final stage involves the insertion of a precisely manufactured nylon ring into the pre-bored cavity. Using a careful and controlled rolling process, the nylon insert is securely seated into place, ensuring a smooth, snug, and reliable fit. This innovative feature provides the locking action that the Nyloc nut is renowned for, offering resistance to vibration and maintaining tension over time.
